Anime Boys Wheel

Eight characters, one spin, no deliberation. SpinyWheel's Anime Boys Wheel picks at 12.5 percent each, for art prompts, roleplay casting, quiz rounds, and the matchup arguments nobody resolves.

Eight entries is a short wheel

Small lists behave differently from long ones, and it is worth knowing before you conclude something is wrong:

EntriesChance per spinTwo spins matching
812.5%12.5%
205%5%
502%2%

Any two consecutive spins match 12.5 percent of the time, and three landing identically happens once in 64 attempts. Seeing all eight takes about 22 spins on average, which is nearly three times the length of the list.

For a quick decision that is fine. For a run of prompts across a week it means constant repeats, and the wheel wants expanding. Twenty entries drops the repeat rate to 5 percent and gives a session real variety.

Half the names need their series attached

Several entries here are first names or single words that belong to characters across more than one series. That is fine in a group who all watch the same shows and unhelpful for anyone else, since a spun name cannot be looked up.

Adding the series in brackets fixes it at the cost of some slice space. Full names work better where they exist, since a surname usually resolves the ambiguity by itself and reads more cleanly on the wheel face.

This matters most for quizzes and for sharing the wheel. A list that only its author can decode is a personal tool rather than a public one.

What a character wheel is actually good for

Art prompts are the strongest use. Choosing your own subject selects for characters you already draw well, and most artists return to the same two or three without deciding to. A spin hands you someone you would not have picked.

For roleplay and group fics, spinning distributes a cast without negotiation, which stops three people claiming the same popular character. Remove each result before the next spin so nobody duplicates.

For matchup arguments, eight characters produce 28 possible pairings. That is a small enough number to work through in one session, which is unusual โ€” most character wheels generate more matchups than any group exhausts.

Building it out

Adding entries is the single change that makes this wheel more useful. The characters worth adding are the ones you would not have chosen, since those produce the prompts and pairings you have not already seen.

SpinyWheel's Dual Wheel returns two results in one landing, so a character and a scenario, or two characters, arrive together without either being picked to suit the other.

The 100 MHA Characters Wheel covers a single series in depth, the All BSD Characters Wheel covers another, and browse the wheel library for more character wheels.

Spin one, take who you got, and draw them anyway.

FAQ

Because eight entries repeat constantly by design. Any two spins in a row match 12.5 percent of the time, and seeing all eight takes about 22 spins. Short wheels swing hard and settle fast, which suits a single decision and suits a run of prompts much less.
